Govt Girls’ P G College, Ujjain has been a premier institute of Higher Education of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh recognised under UGC 2F 12B Act. Affiliated to Vikram University, Ujjain the college has been contributing to the education of girls since 1958. It has been accorded the status of Centre for Excellence among the chosen eight iconic colleges of the State by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. It was one of the pioneering institutes in the nation which voluntarily presented itself for NAAC Accreditation as early as in the year 2004 and earned an “A” Grade. It again appeared for the second cycle re-accreditation in the year 2016 and once again earned an “A” Grade with 3.19 CGPA, the highest score in Madhya Pradesh and the 4th highest in the nation as per the 17 th Standing Committee Meeting of NAAC, Bengaluru. It got an A+ grade with 3.35 CGPA in the Third Cycle becoming the only government college to get this honour in the state. It is a multi-faculty college with Arts, Science, Commerce and Home Science Faculties with post graduation in all faculties and 5 research centres in Drawing, Music, History, Hindi and Home Science. The college is the only institute offering Home Science Faculty and research centre in the whole of Ujjain Division. Besides conventional courses, the college offers eight Self-Financed courses running futuristic courses like Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Commerce with Economics, Commerce with Tax, Commerce with Computer Applications, Computer Science, and Statistics. The college has a hostel for outstation girls with 70-seater capacity. It is a Lead college of sports in the whole of Ujjain District. The faculty members of the college are highly qualified, experienced, competent and devoted. The college received a grant of Rs. Two crore under Rashtra Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA) and an amount of Rs. 11 Crore under the Institutional Development Plan, Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Quality Improvement Programme, World Bank Scheme. The college was declared a Quality Learning Centre under the Academic Excellence Programme of MPHEQIP. The college scored above the State Average Scores in the Institutional Governance practices on the Higher Education Governance Screening Card of World Bank. The college has been located on the Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Map. A visionary Internal Quality Assurance Cell has been taking all the initiatives for treading on the path of quality and excellence since 2005. “Vayam Rashtre Jagrayam Purohita” with this Vision Statement the students besides acquiring merit positions in the University, have been achieving milestones in academic, cultural, literary, sports and extension activities. The college has had a consistent tradition of organizing Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Extension Lectures to enrich the teaching learning pedagogy and research outcome which transformed into a historic series of Webinars post COVID 19. The institute has unique best practices in experiential learning and has a Business Incubation Centre “Synergy”. The college has an excellent society connect through units of NCC, NSS, Red Ribbon and Red Cross and Departmental Social Responsibility leading to a holistic development of the students. The college has implemented NEP 2020 successfully since its inception year 2021. The institution has intertwined Indian Knowledge System practices and cross-cutting issues in its pedagogy for more than a decade. The Psychology Department of the college offers Counseling services on a regular basis under NIDAAN Counseling Cell. Feedback collection from all the stakeholders to assess and reform is a regular practice for more than a decade.
