Principal's Message

“To educate a woman is to educate a generation.” With this intrinsic futuristic vision, Govt. Girls' P.G. College, Ujjain has been synonymous with quality and distinction for over six decades. A Government College, recognized under the UGC 2f 12B Act, was established in 1958 subsequent to the founding of the affiliating Vikram University, Ujjain. The college, embodying the esteemed legacy of Ujjain as a seat of learning associated with Lord Krishna, has consistently contributed to higher education, emphasizing a pedagogical approach that prioritizes experiential learning at its foundation. Its academic ambience thriving with multi faculty disciplines of Arts, Science, Commerce, Home Science, and Doctoral Research Centres properly encapsulates the great principles of critical thinking, research, discipline, ethics and environmental awareness. Additionally, the college proudly serves girls from surrounding rural areas and upholds the principles of equity, access, and women's empowerment. Besides, it boasts of a vibrant culture where the teachers and students strive to give their best to the curricular, co- curricular and extra-curricular activities year after year. Our pursuit of excellence has been recognized with recognition and accolades. The college was one of the pioneering institutions in the country, obtaining NAAC accreditation in 2004 and earning an A grade, which it reclaimed in 2016 with a 3.19 CGPA. In the third cycle, the institute has proudly been graded as NAAC Grade A+ with CGPA 3.35 in 2023.The Madhya Pradesh government has also designated it as a Centre for Excellence among the eight prestigious colleges of higher education in the state. The NEP 2020 has reinvigorated an emphasis on interdisciplinary knowledge, academic flexibility, skill development, holistic learning, and Indian knowledge system. As we embark on the fourth year of Undergraduate NEP and navigate its complex maze, we will never lose sight of our most compelling goal: to develop generations of women who can lead society toward a future that is informed, rooted, peaceful, healthy, prosperous, and sustainable. The alumni of this college are spread round the globe and working with different portfolios in the service of humanity. I earnestly wish that the tradition continues ever after and welcome the young women coming from all walks of life from distant places who are the torch bearers of this grand legacy of Girls College.
